Digimedia is the one and only 500 channels Digital Cable TV Headend in and from Thiruvananthapuram, the Capital of Kerala. Digimedia is an association of Individuals by 100 plus Cable TV Operators of Thiruvananthapuram District, an SPV for realising the dream of bridging the gap between technology and humans at a cost-effective way avoiding Profiteering only motive and making services affordable to Common Man.
As Said by TRAI in its White Paper dated 23.03.2019, under Chaper V with heading “Way Forward”
“The ‘New Framework’ empowers small and medium MSOs with certainty of getting fair deal from broadcasters while seeking television channels. Further the assured revenue stream through Network Capacity Fee will help MSOs in better revenue forecast and management. It is certain that the enabling provisions of ‘New Framework’ will bring new wave of entrepreneurial effort by small and medium MSOs. The reducing costs of head-end, other equipment and system software (CAs and Subscriber Management System) will encourage more and more LCO to come together and form LCO cooperatives and become MSOs themselves.”
This SPV banks on the 28 years plus of customer service experience of all its promotors and in the current scenario the competition is not between providers and its by and with technology and regulations. The promotors had Planned to raise and invest INR 75 Million from internal pooling within 12 months of start-up.
This new entity has the unique advantage to retain business and Jobs of over 200 plus cable operators and Jobs of over 1000 in Thiruvananthapuram District, which were supposed to be lost due to the sudden implementation of TRAI’s National Tariff Order and the belligerence of Certain in the Industry. Immediate to Start up Cable Cast from 1st August, Digimedia started Cable casting 400 odd channels through its state of art made in India HD only boxes to about 1 lac subscribers in a short span of 180 days and about 2 lac by the end of the first year and to spread operations to other parts of Kerala. This business model lessens subscriber burden without affecting the operator revenue.
